Leading sugar confectionery manufacturer, Tangerine, has introduced all natural colours and flavours to some of the UK’s favourite sweet brands following a review of its recipes. The Blackpool-based company, one of Europe’s largest sugar confectionery manufacturers, is committed to using only natural colours and flavours in its recipes.

New research on artificial colours from the University of Southampton has lent weight to Tangerine’s stance on this issue and the importance of manufacturers taking a more natural approach to foods.

Tangerine, which makes MOJOs, Princess Marshmallows, Little Delights and Taveners proper sweets, has been steadily converting its products to recipes using all natural colours and flavours over the last 18 months.

Brand manager, Helen Sears explained: We have an ongoing programme of recipe review to make sure that Tangerine products use all natural colours and flavours, wherever possible. Whenever we acquire a brand we run its products through a review and schedule recipe updates where needed. It is important that consumers can buy our products with confidence about ingredients.. The majority of the UK’s confectionery retailers stock Tangerine products and the company produces own label ranges for leading supermarkets. Family favourites made by Tangerine include mini jelly babies, American hard gums, chews, chocolate limes, mint humbugs and liquorice allsorts.
