QA Technician


Reporting to the Quality Manager – the purpose of the role will be to ensure that the company complies with the Quality Assurance requirements of the customer and relevant third party agencies and meets its legal obligation in terms of current and impending food legislation and food safety.

You will also ensure that the specific quality and safety attributes of the company and the customer are met at all times and any actions implemented to maintain this position.

Monitor the standards of hygiene demanded by the company and customers.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain the site Packing Specification system, manage outer case/label design and approval.
  • Maintain the site Finished Product Quality Standards
  • Support the site micro and nutritional sampling program by collation/ preparation of samples. Review and collate the results and out of specification results are followed up.
  • Manage the site incoming raw materials and packaging sampling/ approval system and shelf life monitoring
  • Follow up with supplier using group procedures, any instances of non-conforming raw materials and packaging.
  • Maintain the site glass and hard plastic register.
  • Oversee the site retained samples system.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining the site internal document control system.
  • Manage the site customer complaints investigation system, providing responses and trending data for reports as required.
  • Maintain the site corrective action database, follow up on actions when required.
  • Carry out internal audits relating to the internal Quality Management Systems including systems audits, HACCP audits and hygiene and housekeeping audits.
  • A member of the HACCP team, support the site HACCP/ pre-requisite program when required.
  • Co-ordinate the site daily taste panel and act upon results indicating substandard quality.
  • Providing assistance to Operations and Engineering departments on continuous/ process improvement projects, new equipment trials, product development trials and product launches.
  • Support the implementation of procedures and preparation for external audits (BRC and customer).
  • Support the site Pest Control system working with the site Hygiene Manager.
  • Take overall responsibility for coordinating samples required by customers both internal and external
  • Monitoring of quality and food safety standards within all areas of the factory, reporting on and resolving issues found
  • Cover for the other QA Technician his/ her absence

Person Specification

What is needed to be successful in this role:


  • Computer literate, intermediate level of Microsoft Office skills and experience of retailer web based systems or potential to learn.
  • Flexible approach and respond positively to new ideas and change.
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good presentation skills, be able to use camera to take pictures and manipulate to the required standard.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and experience in dealing with people from different backgrounds.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.


  • Full UK Driving License and own transport would be desirable.
  • Ideally educated to science/ food technology entry level or potential to learn.
  • Ideally 2 years of relevant food industry experience.
  • Food hygiene and HACCP trained to Intermediate or Advanced Level
  • Trained and experienced in internal auditing
  • Hold a train the trainer certificate, and be able to run training sessions

Marketing Assistant – Retailer Own Brand


In this role you will effectively support the Senior Brand Manager in growing Tangerines profitability and share of retailer own brand business with customers.  This will include the definition of our strategy for ROB ensuring its alignment with our branded strategy and the development of ROB specific plans for major customers.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Optimise our strong position on ROB in the UK, with focus on the following initiatives:
    • Identifying range and recipe rationalisation opportunities to simplify the operation
    • Constant focus on quality, including Technical product specification reviews
    • Protecting key contracts with minimum impact to margin
    • Improving the margin mix through improved efficiencies
    • Generating incremental opportunities, including innovation, range gaps and seasonal
  • Project lead on key ROB initiatives, setting clear targets and timescales and presenting regular updates to the business.
  • Project management on ROB change programmes involving critical path generation, data input, progress tracking, escalation and reviews.
  • Work cross functionally with Category, Sales, Operational, Technical, NPD, Packaging, Supply and Brand Marketing to ensure customer and consumer relevancy at all times.
  • Develop relevant category insight plans to optimise the commercial benefit of ROB projects.
  • Provide commercial support for the National Account Team.
  • Maintenance of ROB product database to ensure we consistently provide the latest information for customer range reviews, benchmarking and product submissions.
  • Work closely with the Shop Manager to ensure we provide samples and supporting information on time and to the standard required.

Ideally, applicants will have experience in successfully managing (multiple) projects, along with the ability to work cross-functionally (e.g. Operations, R&D, Finance, Sales & Procurement).  Experience of working in FMCG brand/product marketing (ideally within the food sector) is desirable but not essential. A high level of motivation and a focused approach to achieve results is a must.

You will also have excellent focus on attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadline. Good IT skills, (Microsoft Office) and a high level of general education are essential.

Part-time Sales Administration Assistant


We have an opportunity for a Part-time Sales Administration Assistant (24 hours per week), to join the Convenience & Impulse Sales team based at Pontefract.

Reporting to the Sales Controller – you will be a key contributor to the Convenience & Impulse Sales Channel by providing support to the C&I team to deliver customer expectations with the administration of key sales projects, and support for Brand and Own Label projects.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Support the Sales Controller with key administrative duties across their strategic customer base covering forecasts, customer documents & preparing presentations
  • Complete Customer Sales documentation on time in full for a wide range of customers
  • Typical regular requirements to submit PCFs (Promotional Control Forms), Customer promotional forms & Customer New Line Forms
  • Attend cross functional project meetings as required completing action logs, cascading and following up for completion.
  • Cross functional communication to ensure end to end completion of projects (Product Development, Supply Chain, Commercial Finance, Marketing & Category)
  • Processing invoices and management of queries and audit claims.
  • Assistance in resolving ad-hoc sales issues communicating cross functionally (e.g supply chain)
  • Preparing samples & despatching to customers along with telephone contact with customers
  • Management of sales enquiries from the Company website
  • Monthly analysis of key customers ordering patterns
  • Adhoc store visits i.e. surveys & audits.
  • Supporting the C&I team at trade shows where required

Hours of work will be a total of 24 hours per week, which can be worked either 3 full days or 4 shorter days per week.

Successful applicants must have previous experience working in an administration role, and have good Microsoft skills i.e. Excel & PowerPoint, be numerate with strong organisational & communication skills and have basic analytical ability.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, disciplined & flexible.  Strong attention to detail is a must.

Materials Control and Factory Support


We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Control & Factory Support role to join the Supply Chain team at the Cleckheaton site. The role is split 50/50 between support for the Material Control function, and administrative support for the Factory manager.

Key Material Control responsibilities include:

  • Management of Sugar and Glucose ordering and inventory levels
  • Daily reporting of plan conformance levels
  • Reconciliation of actual production versus planned output
  • Monitoring and control of Goods Inwards ordering to maintain a level raw material and packaging intake
  • Maintaining data integrity
  • Organising packaging deliveries from suppliers and 3rd party Warehouses
  • Stock take administration
  • Supplier liaison – chasing deliveries etc.

Key Factory Support responsibilities include:

  • Collation of data & publishing monthly management report
  • Data Input for training records & maintaining training reports
  • Daily reporting of OEE
  • Updating training matrix
  • Auditing duties across site
  • Presentation work
  • Administration to support FACE ambassador

You will need strong data administration skills, be methodical in approaching tasks and have a high level of MS Office skills as Good Excel / Basic Word / Outlook / PowerPoint are required. In addition SAGE/Reflex will be used but will be part of the training given.

You must be able to demonstrate a good level of communication skills to be able to build & maintain effective relationships with internal functions as well as external suppliers. In addition, you must have a positive outlook coupled with a can-do, hands on attitude. Display a proactive response to problem resolution – with the ability to react at short notice and within tight deadlines.
