Technical Manager


Reporting to the Group Technical Manager, you will have direct responsibility for managing the resources of the sites technical function ensuring that product, premises and procedures satisfy all legal and regulatory requirements, including branded, own label and export customer specifications and codes of practice. Your brief will extend across the entire technical system – leading on HACCP, undertaking audits, overseeing pest control and monitoring hygiene activities, as well as managing quality systems and maintaining clearance procedures for ingredients/packaging materials.


Key Accountabilities will include:


  • maintain customer complaints for the site, ensuring proper investigation of complaints and driving the process of complaint reduction at Pontefract
  • provide a qualified audit resource and to carry out internal hygiene and system audits against predetermined schedules. Further, to ensure that audits are recorded and non-conformances dealt with
  • manage and lead any external quality audits / visits by both customers and local authorities
  • be responsible for administering the corrective action system and for providing information regarding site corrective action performance
  • regularly audit and ensure the integrity of the site traceability systems
  • administer and ensure the correct operation of the site quarantine system and also the process of quarantining stock at the companies external depots
  • be responsible for pest control on site and for managing the activities of the Pest Control contractor
  • be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the quality management system and for carrying out an annual review
  • Maintain quality records in order to demonstrate “due diligence” and the correct operation of the quality management system
  • maintain the clearance process for ingredients and packaging materials and to sample and test against schedules for micro, analytical and nutritional testing where required


Already having gained experience within a technical function, you will be HND/Degree qualified in a quality, food safety or science discipline and have a minimum of 5 years relevant food industry experience

Experience of private label customers such as M&S and all the major food retailers is essential. You will also have have practical knowledge of BRC standards and quality management systems. Strong team leadership and motivational skills will also be required.

Administration Assistant – 6 Month Temporary Contract


This is a 6 month temporary contract.

Reporting to the Sales Controller – you will be a key contributor to the Convenience & Impulse Sales Channel by providing support to the Convenience team to deliver customer expectations with the administration of Key Sales Projects Brand and Own Label Projects for the Convenience team.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Complete Customer Sales documentation on time in full for a wide range of customers
  • Typical regular requirements to submit PCFs (Promotional Control Forms), Customer promotional forms & Customer New Line Forms
  • Attend cross functional project meetings as required completing action logs, cascading and following up for completion.
  • Processing invoices and management of queries and audit claims.
  • Assistance in resolving ad-hoc sales issues communicating cross functionally (e.g supply chain)
  • Monthly analysis of key customers ordering patterns
  • Ad-hoc Store visits; surveys & audits.

Successful applicants must have good IT skills i.e. Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint,

be numerate with strong organisational & communication skills and have basic analytical ability.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, disciplined & flexible. Some experience presenting to small groups is also preferred.

Health, Safety & Environmental Regional Manager

Blackpool Liverpool

The main purpose of the role will be to carry out the day to day operations of HSE department across two sites within the group and contribute to the application of effective Health, Safety and Environmental management by providing technical support. Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management.

Duties will include:

  • Maintain relevant HSE logs and documentation software
  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare applicable HSE reports as necessary.
  • Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
  • Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training
  • Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.
  • Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other work related tasks as required as assigned
  • Comply with all Company and HSE procedures and policies.

Holding a NEBOSH Certificate, or preferably a Diploma, you should have a sound knowledge and direct experience of the practical application of Health & Safety legislation in the workplace.

Ideally with a background in manufacturing, you must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, as well as the influencing skills necessary to engage all site personnel. You will also be experienced in delivering related training programmes.

Other desirable skills/experience required include:

  • Previous experience with compliance and governance within Environment, either through recognised qualification or experience would be desired for the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Car licence / owner – essential requirement for covering sites.

Hygiene Coordinator


The main purpose of the role will be to ensure that the sites comply with the hygiene and housekeeping requirements of current customers, relevant third party agencies, Tangerine Group policies and procedures, and meets its legal obligations with regards hygiene and housekeeping. 

Duties will include:

 Manage, advise and equip the hygiene team so they are able to carry out their duties effectively.

  • Ensure that cleaning chemicals are correctly stored and dispensed, usage is monitored and data relating to food safety and health and safety of chemicals is available on site.
  • Manage the other cleaning equipment and materials associated to the successful running of the department and ensure that they are available and maintained in a good condition at all times where required.
  • In conjunction with the Technical Manager and Production team ensure that hygiene risk assessments are carried out to determine schedules / frequencies of cleaning and that instructions (methods of work) are prepared with key inspection points highlighted.
  • Work with the Production team to ensure cleaning records are fully complete and a system of cleaning verification is in place.
  • Manage the introduction to the factory of any new instructions or schedules and provide training for staff where appropriate.
  • Provide all hygiene information that is required during the site customer audits.
  • Carry out detailed internal audits of equipment and factory GMP.
  • Ensure that a suitable high level cleaning plan is maintained and cleaning is carried out to this plan in all relevant areas of the factory.
  • Organise and manage the cleaning contractors to ensure that they are adhere to the Health and Safety regulations while they are on site and check and verify their work before signing off.
  • Assist with the investigation of any hygiene related factory incidents or complaints.
  • Manage the laundry process on site.
  • Carry out other duties within the scope of the role as directed by the site Technical Manager e.g. assisting with site HACCP team on request.
  • Work with the Technical Manager to manage the site Pest Control contract.

Successful applicants should have a minimum of 2 years food industry experience within a Hygiene role, and be fully understanding of HACCP/COSH along with internal & external audits experience.

You should also be an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with good verbal and written communication skills, A ‘no nonsense’ approach to maintaining standards and doing the right thing, be able to keep calm under pressure and when dealing with incidents, have good use of reasoning/logic skills, Excellent Organisational and PC skills and good people management experience. Flexibility to work according to the needs is essential.
